    Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we get most often.

    Where is Es Gelat located?

Es Gelat is at Riba Pitxot, 2, on the seaside promenade of Cadaqués port (17488 Cadaqués, Girona, Costa Brava, Spain). Coordinates: 42.2861166° N, 3.2738812° E. We're right by the fishing port, a few steps from the village main square.

What are Es Gelat's opening hours? Are you open in winter?

We open from May to October, every day of the week from 11:00 to 23:00 (11 AM – 11 PM). From November to April we are closed for the season — like much of the village. Check our social media for exact opening dates each year.

    Who is Angelo Corvitto?

Angelo Corvitto (born 1943, Licata, Sicily) is an Italian master gelato maker and the author of the internationally renowned treatise 'Los secretos del helado, el helado sin secretos' (2004). In 2006, at the first edition of the Identità Golose Congress in Italy, he was awarded best gelato maker in the world. He has trained three-Michelin-star pastry chefs such as Jordi Roca and Paco Torreblanca. His brand Gelats Angelo is today produced by his son Hervé Corvitto at the foot of Montgrí.

Did Es Gelat win the Identità Golose award?

No. The 2006 Identità Golose award for best gelato maker in the world belongs to Angelo Corvitto, not to the Es Gelat shop (which opened in 2022). What Es Gelat does is exclusively serve, in Cadaqués, the artisan gelato made by Angelo. In short: here you can taste the gelato of the world's first awarded gelato maker, but the award belongs to its creator, as it should.

What makes Es Gelat different from other ice cream shops in Cadaqués?

Cadaqués has several excellent artisan ice cream shops and they all deserve a visit. What makes Es Gelat unique is that we are the only outlet for Angelo Corvitto's gelato in Cadaqués — the world's first awarded gelato maker at the Identità Golose Congress in 2006. If you're specifically looking for this historic gelato in Cap de Creus, you'll find it only here.

Are there vegan, gluten-free or lactose-free options?

Yes. The menu includes vegan sorbets made with fresh fruit (lemon, passion fruit, raspberry, mango, mandarin, among others), suitable for lactose-free diets. Each gelato shows its allergen info on the product detail page (gluten, milk, eggs, tree nuts, soy, sulfites, celery) so you can choose with confidence. If you have a specific intolerance, just ask us at the counter.

    Can I pay by card?

Yes. We accept cash and card (Visa, Mastercard).

Do I need to book a table at Es Gelat?

No. Es Gelat is a counter / takeaway shop — you come in, order, and leave with your gelato. No booking required. During high season (July–August) there can be a queue at peak evening hours, but service is quick.
